Great column.

When I think of Sergio Mendes, I think of Mas Que Nada. Everyone above the age of 45 knows that song, even if they don't know the title or the artist.

I had the amazing opportunity to see JD Souther perform in a tiny venue (Stephen Talkhouse in Amagansett, off-season) and play many of the hits he wrote for other people. His version of New Kid In Town still echoes.
